Linux Server Installation Guide

This pages explains how to perform a CentOS-4 Linux from CDROM, using the graphical mouse-based installation program. We are Using CentOS-4 Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Linux technology but totally pay-off licenses.
1. Insert the boot media CD #1 and reboot the system. Your BIOS settings may
need to be changed to allow you to boot from the CD-ROM. After a short
delay, a screen containing the boot: prompt should appear. Press [Enter] to
boot.
2. When CD Found screen appear just click Skip button.
3. Welcome to CentOS-4 screen, click Next button.
4. Language Selection screen, choose English, then click Next button.
5. Keyboard Configuration screen, choose U.S. English, then click Next button.
6. Installation Type screen, choose Server, then click Next button.
7. Disk Partitioning Setup screen, choose Automatically partition, then click
Next.
8. Automatic Partitioning screen, choose Remove all partitions on this system,
and disable/un-check Review (and modify if needed) the partitions created.
Then click Next button. Warning dialog will appear, just click Yes.
9. Boot Loader Configuration screen, just click Next button.
10. Network Configuration screen, click Edit to modify eth0 network device.
• Un-check Configure using DHCP, fill in IP Address and Netmask appropriate
with your network segment.
• Set the Hostname manually (e.g. ancol.cp.co.id)
• Fill in Miscellaneous Settings with your Gateway address & Primary/Secondary
DNS.
11. Firewall Configuration screen, enable Remote Login (SSH) & Mail Server
(SMTP). But remember to disable Enable SE-Linux option. Click Next button.
12. Additional Language Support screen, just click Next button.
13. Time Zone Selection screen, select Asia/Jakarta, then click Next button.
14. Enter your root password twice (e.g. d220MT), then click Next button.
15. On Package Group Selection screen,

 Un-check / don’t select the rest of optional packages on this container.

Done selecting packages needed.
Click Next.
16. About to Install screen, just click Next and then click Continue button.
17. Installing Packages screen, wait about 20 minutes but don’t go too far, you will ask to insert installation CD #2 and CD #3.
18. Installation is complete. Click Reboot button.
